it is really easy to do a simple post in WordPress! As soon as you login to the website you have an opportunity to do a “quick draft” consisting of simple text. We covered the details in “Getting Started”. This makes use of only one kind of block, the Paragraph block. You can highlight selected text via bold or italics, and you can create links. This was covered in “Simple Formatting”.
Let’s create a “real” post using a variety of blocks. The first time you started up the editor you were shown a mini tutorial, which you can quickly review for the general concept. Now for a few details and examples.
Choosing a Block
Type /
When you are typing and start a new paragraph, you are presented with this message: “Type / to choose a block”. If you type just “/” you will be presented with a few blocks to choose from.

If you remember the name of a block you are looking for, you could start typing that name after the “/”. For example, suppose you want a Video block. You could start typing “/v” and choose “Video” from the list.

Using +
Wherever you see a solid + , either inline in the post you are editing or at the top of the window, you can select it. For example, the + in the solid blue square at top of window brings up a gallery of blocks.

Examples of Blocks

You can either upload an image, select an image from the Media Library, or insert from a URL. (The last option is a bit risky of the URL is to a website you don’t have control over: it could disappear on you!)
